February Section Notes

For the first time in many years we did not go to Pete and Jude’s at Broseley for fortified coffee and mince pies, this was mainly due to the Scribe having a lapse of memory.  By the time it was mentioned it would have meant phoning or posting to Members, which has become quiet costly.  During the year we shall be showing some DVD’s of the Castrol Castle Runs from the early 80’s.  The videos were kindly loaned by Phil Mayo and transferred to DVD by the Sarn History Group.  Many thanks to them for doing this for free.

January Section Notes

We are a bit behind with our Calendar of Events for 2012 normally we would be giving out the cards at our Annual Dinner.  However the Calendar should be on the Website just after Christmas and the cards will be handed out at the January Meeting.  By the time you read this we shall have had Ron Jones’s talk and our Christmas Dinner.  We have had a poor take up for the Dinner this year, with only half compared with last years.  A sign of the times I suppose.  We will be at the Inn on the Green for all our meetings during 2012.  If you have any photographs you would like them to go on the Website, please Email them JPG to the Scribe.  We will endeavour to put them on and hope to put items on each month from January onwards.  A Happy New Year to all and safe riding in 2012.

December Section Notes

Our trip to the Fred Dibnah Heritage Centre was a great success.  We were taken round the Centre in two groups - one lead by the owner Leon Pounsey and the other by Alf Molyneux.  Tea and biscuits were served in Fred's kitchen.  From there we headed to the Riley Marina, where half the group had a trip on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal on the MV Romance, whilst the others went to Hoghton Tower, then we swapped over.  Once again we were poorly supported by Club Members, most of the 44 on the trip were friends and neighbours of the Chairman.

The October Club Night was the AGM, same old story the Committee elected en bloc.

Due to problems at Affcot Lodge we have now moved to The Inn on the Green, Wentnor, Nr. Bishops Castle.  We still meet on the last Wednesday of the month.
