John Morris well-known undertaker in Bishops Castle sadly passed away on the morning of the 6th of February at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. after a nine-year-long battle with prostate cancer bravely fought without complaint, His funeral was on Saturday the 22nd of February at St John the Baptist Church Bishops Castle. There was a very large attendance at the funeral to celebrate his life and death. John was well respected in the town as a former deputy mayor on a couple of occasions and served as a part-time fireman. In his youth he competed with friend Pete Lello in grass track races n a sidecar outfit they had built themselves in the area, he had a vast knowledge of vintage and classic motorcycles he attended the TT races for in excess of 50 years until health. He was a very amiable person with a sense of humor he was a collector of vintage tools I used to take him to auctions at H J Pughs of Ledbury, the last time we went he bought a vintage woodworking plane he had been looking for for a number of years which completed a range of them he was collecting sadly this was to be his last visit. Although not a member of the VMCC he was a regular attender at Shropshire Section since it was founded doing grope nights helping or competing on runs been captain of our quiz team. and came on most of our trips and weekends away.
